One of the largest necropolises in the world, with a diameter of approximately 8km. Makli Hill is supposed to be the burial place of some 125,000 local rulers, Sufi saints and others. It is located on the outskirts of Thatta, the capital of lower Sind until the seventeenth century, in what is the southeastern province of present-day Pakistan. It was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1981  under the name, Historical Monuments of Thatta.

How to reach?

Thatta, an ancient city in Pakistan, is 98 km east of Karachi, in Sindh province. Many of its sites are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Once a famous center of learning, arts and commerce and provisional capital for about four centuries in the past.

Karachi is the main gateway to Sindh province by air.

The main hub of the national flag carrier “PIA”and other 4 private airlines of Pakistan (Air Blue, Aero Asia and Shaheen Air) is Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport.

From Karachi it is a 2 hour distance through national highway. The road is clean and easy. A car, van or taxi can be hired to reach there.

After a trip to thatta, one can stay in Karachi in luxury and all types of hotels, although local hotels and motels are also present in thatta.
