LCWU holds seminar on Islamic calligraphy

LAHORE: A seminar aimed at promoting Islamic calligraphy was arranged at Persian Department of the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) on Thursday.

LCWU Vice Chancellor Dr Sabiha Mansoor and Iran Cultural Centre Director General Abbas Ali Famoori were invited to the seminar, titled ‘Role of Islamic Calligraphy in Islamic Heritage’.

Speaking on the occasion, Calligraphy artist Aslam Kamal said Islamic calligraphy, also known as Arabic calligraphy, was the form of art based on the Arabic script. He added this form of art was used for a long time by Muslims in their respective languages.
